Knife Attack on Singer Peck Palitchoke at Bangkok Gas Station Sparks Investigation

Bangkok: Police at Huamark Police Station have charged a 21-year-old man with attacking renowned singer and actor Peck Palitchoke with a knife, resulting in a severe wound to the singer’s chin. The incident, which is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding, is under further investigation.

According to Thai News Agency, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 3, 2015, Police Lieutenant Chainarin Kaweephram, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Huamark Police Station, was alerted to a knife assault at a gas station on Soi Ramkhamhaeng 76. The location, situated in the Huamark Subdistrict of Bangkapi District, became the scene of a violent encounter involving Mr. Palitchoke, 40, who was found injured at the site.

Upon arrival, police and volunteers from the Siam Ruam Jai Pu In Foundation discovered Mr. Palitchoke with a significant knife wound under his chin. Emergency responders provided immediate first aid before transporting him to Samitivej Hospital for further care. The alleged assailant, Mr. Chutithep, did not attempt to flee and awaited law enforcement’s arrival, eventually surrendering himself and the 20-centimeter-long machete used in the attack.

Initial investigations indicated that Mr. Chutithep had gone to the gas station to pick up his girlfriend from work. There, he encountered two individuals engaged in an apparent drunken argument in the back of a pickup truck. As Mr. Chutithep intervened, Mr. Peck reportedly rushed toward him, prompting Mr. Chutithep to use the knife in what he described as self-defense. His girlfriend subsequently contacted the police.

Pol. Col. Naren Krungsanuk, Superintendent of Huamark Police Station, has stated that further questioning of both involved parties is necessary to clarify the details surrounding the incident. Mr. Peck, currently recovering in the hospital, has not yet provided additional information to the authorities. Meanwhile, Mr. Chutithep remains in custody, charged with carrying a knife without a permit and assault resulting in injury. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
