Korat Scouts Mobilize Blood Donation Drive for Border Province Hospitals

Nakhon ratchasima: More than 200 scouts, scouting personnel, and local residents in Nakhon Ratchasima Province and surrounding areas participated in a blood donation drive. The initiative aims to reserve blood for hospitals in four border provinces impacted by unrest along the border.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Tewan Liptapallop, Deputy Minister of Education, highlighted the role of blood donation as a crucial contribution by Thai scouts in supporting society during crises. This act of donating blood is seen as a demonstration of the volunteer spirit and sacrifice, which are core values of scouting.

The National Scout Office is extending its support by utilizing Scout Camps in Sisaket, Surin, Buriram, and Chanthaburi provinces, along with a Scout Camp in Ubon Ratchathani Province, as temporary shelters. These facilities, situated near the disaster zones, are equipped to provide safety, food, and essential living necessities. They can accommodate up to 2,000 people in buildings and 5,000 in camping areas. Coordination with relevant agencies is ongoing, with Scout Volunteers actively providing care.

Relief efforts include the preparation of relief bags for distribution to those affected by Storm Wipha, which resulted in severe flooding in northern regions. The distribution focuses on leveraging the local scout network to ensure timely and precise delivery of aid.
