Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for the North, Northeast, East, and South regions of Thailand, advising residents to prepare for heavy rain that could result in flash floods and forest runoff. The department highlighted the risk of thunderstorms persisting across the country.
According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department reported that these regions should be cautious of the potential dangers associated with heavy and accumulated rainfall. Such conditions could lead to flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in hilly areas near waterways and low-lying regions. This weather pattern is attributed to a low-pressure cell currently affecting upper Myanmar and upper Laos, combined with a moderate southwest monsoon impacting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
Maritime conditions also warrant attention as waves remain moderate in both the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. The upper Andaman Sea is experiencing waves reaching approximately 2 meters, while the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand report wave heights between 1 to 2 meters. In areas experiencing thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 meters, prompting sailors to exercise caution and avoid navigating through storm-affected zones.
Furthermore, Tropical Storm ‘Danas’ in the upper South China Sea is predicted to approach Taiwan between July 6 and 7, 2025. Although the storm will not directly impact Thailand’s weather, it is expected to intensify the southwest monsoon currently over the region. It is confirmed that the storm will not enter Thailand’s territory.
