Bangkok: The NBTC office has mandated mobile phone operators to restore normal mobile phone signals in areas along the Thai-Cambodian border, with a provision to support military communications as needed.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Trirat Viriyasirikul, Deputy Secretary-General and Acting Secretary-General of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, announced that all telecommunications service providers have been instructed to normalize mobile phone signals in the border region between Thailand and Cambodia. This directive aims to facilitate communication missions for military forces in the area, following recent clashes along the border.
Previously, the NBTC had reduced mobile phone signal strength in these border zones to prevent signals from Thailand from crossing into Cambodia. The measure was intended to curb the potential for technological crimes and activities by call center gangs.
Mr. Trirat also stated that the NBTC has sought cooperation from digital terrestrial television operators to exercise caution in presenting news that could cause confusion. The emphasis is on avoiding any content that might impact military security missions and to prioritize information presentation from security agencies.
