Nida Poll Reveals Waning Public Confidence in MPs’ Performance

Bangkok: A recent survey conducted by Nida Poll has revealed that a significant portion of the population is losing hope in the performance of both government and opposition Members of Parliament (MPs).

According to Thai News Agency, the survey, titled “Hope or Hopelessness in Political Parties,” was carried out between August 13-14, 2025, and involved 1,310 participants aged 18 and above. The results indicate that 41.91 percent of respondents expressed hopelessness regarding the performance of current MPs.

The survey also assessed public satisfaction with the work of their constituency MPs. It found that 32.29 percent of respondents were not very satisfied, while 28.24 percent were not at all satisfied. Meanwhile, 27.18 percent were somewhat satisfied, and 11.60 percent were very satisfied. A small fraction, 0.69 percent, did not provide an answer.

When questioned about the potential re-election of current MPs if elections were held today, 50.69 percent of participants stated they would not vote. Additionally, 25.57 percent were unsure, and 23.74 percent indicated they would vote.

In terms of public expectations for political parties with MPs in the House of Representatives to address national issues, 41.91 percent of respondents expressed hopelessness. This was followed by 34.19 percent who expressed some hopelessness, 20.92 percent who had some hope, and 2.98 percent who had a lot of hope.

The survey also explored opinions on party-list MPs elected by the same political party as in 2023. It found that 40.46 percent of respondents would not vote for them again, 29.47 percent were unsure, 26.95 percent were unsure, and 3.12 percent had not voted previously.
