PM Accepts New Cabinet Is Complete, Insists Not to Hold Defense Minister’s Position

Bangkok: The Prime Minister admitted that the new cabinet has been finalized, sending some ministers’ names for qualifications examination, confirming that they will definitely not hold the Defense Minister’s position, seeing that they must be suitable people to oversee border matters.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, talked about the progress of the cabinet reshuffle, saying that it is now settled. She has already talked to all the leaders of the coalition parties. After this, she will send a list of names to check their qualifications. Some names have already been sent for qualification checks. Once it is complete, it will be presented to His Majesty the King according to the next steps. She also confirmed that the problems of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party are over.

As for the news that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, as leader of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, is pressuring him to resign, the Prime Minister said that it is not true. They have talked normally, including at the Rosewood Hotel on Sunday, June 22. He confirmed that all parties in the coalition government have given support and encouragement, so everything went smoothly.

As for whether there will be any voices to add to the government after this, Ms. Paethongtarn said that at present, the voices of the coalition parties are still strong.

Regarding the Ministry of Defense, the Prime Minister stated that he would not disclose the names yet. He promised to provide further details once the final conclusion is reached. He also confirmed that he will definitely not hold the position of Minister of Defense.

For the current political situation, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of selecting qualified individuals to assume positions, specifically the Defense Minister. Every ministry must be prepared to work in an integrated manner, with individuals who can handle responsibilities effectively. Currently, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Nattapol Nakphanit, Deputy Defense Minister, and the military are working diligently, with the military given authority to oversee and manage the work site according to government policy, ensuring everything operates smoothly.
