Phetkasem: Police found 4-5 suspects in the “money-gold” case of the abbot of Wat Muang. Phetkasem Police Station Superintendent reveals the case of the “money-gold” of the abbot of Wat Muang; there are 4-5 suspects. Initially, no gold shop has been found to buy it. He cited the Buddhist proverb, “Whoever does something, will get that thing.” He denied the news of linking it to money laundering at a gambling den. He emphasized that society is keeping a close eye and working to the fullest.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Pramote Chanboonkaew, Superintendent of Phetkasem Police Station, revealed the progress of the investigation into the case of 10 million baht and 250 baht of gold belonging to the abbot of Wat Muang, which went missing from the abbot’s quarters since June 29. He revealed that there are at least 4-5 suspects in this case, and no one has been ruled out yet. Everyone is a suspect because they are close to and live in the temple. Therefore, when something goes missing in the temple, the suspects must be people in the temple. Pol. Col. Pramote cited the Buddhist proverb, ‘Kammuna vattati loko (kammuna vattati loko): All living beings are subject to karma.’ Whoever does something will get that thing.
When reporters asked if he was about to go to the area to inspect the gold shop suspected of buying lost gold, Pol. Col. Pramote said that he had already sent a team to inspect the gold shop, but initially, he had not found any gold being sold to any gold shop.
As for the case where someone gave information to the media that the temple might be involved in money laundering from a gambling den, Pol. Col. Pramote confirmed that since he took the position of Superintendent of Phetkasem Police Station for 3 years, there has never been such a gambling den. The police do not have any information on this matter. The person who gave such information might be a rival of the abbot because the politics in the temple are quite intense.
Pol. Col. Pramote emphasized that since this case is being closely watched by society and is related to religion, the police will do their best to solve this case to clarify both the Phetkasem Police Station that handled the missing money case and the Anti-Corruption Division that investigates the financial trail. The commanding officers of the Metropolitan Police Bureau have instructed and expressed concern for them to work to their fullest potential.
