Accra: Right Reverend Dr. Hilliard K. Dela Dogbe, the Presiding Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church, has called on Ghanaians to uphold the virtues of hard work, honesty, patriotism, accountability, and unity. In his Christmas message, the clergyman urged all to use their skills and knowledge to foster national cohesion and spur prosperity and economic growth.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Dogbe emphasized that Christmas provides an opportunity for individuals and communities to reflect on their lives and commit to being responsible and accountable in every sphere of life. He noted that the festive season is a reminder of the stewardship and accountability entrusted by God, along with the precious breath of life, innate skills and abilities, and the environment and resources available to all.
The bishop highlighted that 2025 had been an eventful year, marked by a smooth political transition to a new government. He noted significant improvements in the economy, the strengthening of the local currency, and initiatives like Blue Water Guards and NAIMOS aimed at combating illegal mining, as well as efforts to mediate peace in the Bawku crisis.
Dr. Dogbe also acknowledged the challenging moments of the year, including the tragic loss of eight officials in a helicopter crash and 16 youth from the Saviour Church in a road accident. Despite these challenges, he maintained that Ghana remains a progressive, safe, and peaceful nation in a relatively volatile subregion, expressing gratitude for this stability.
On behalf of the AME Zion Church officers and members, he extended Christmas and New Year greetings to the President of Ghana, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, and all Ghanaians, wishing them a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
