Shooting Incident at Former Teacher’s Residence Raises Suspicions of Land Dispute in Phatthalung

Phatthalung: A perpetrator rode a motorcycle and shot at the house of a former teacher in the middle of the night. Fortunately, no one was injured. Police suspect that the motive was a land dispute or personal matter.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Yuthasak Iamsunthon, chief of the investigation division of the Phatthalung Provincial Police, led a team of investigators and forensic officers to inspect a shooting incident at the home of Mrs. Sudjai, aged 62, in Tambon Phaya Khan, Amphoe Mueang, Phatthalung Province. The incident occurred after two assailants rode a motorcycle and broke into the home with a shotgun in the middle of the night, causing panic among the five people in the home. No one was injured.

From the investigation at the scene, officers found two shotgun shells in front of the house, and the door, front, and side walls of the house with multiple bullet holes. Initial assumptions are that the perpetrator rode a motorcycle into the alley about 150 meters deep from Ban Khao Daeng Road before pulling out a gun, shooting, and quickly fleeing.

Mrs. Sudjai stated that at the time of the incident, there were five people in the house: herself, her sister who came from another province, her son, daughter-in-law, and her grandchild. Everyone was safe, but she was shocked by the incident. Just a few hours before the incident, she and her sister went to court in a lawsuit over inherited land, and the court ruled in her favor on appeal. However, she insisted that she did not have any serious arguments or conflicts with her sister, even though they did not speak to each other after the lawsuit.

The police have not ruled out any possibilities, focusing on land disputes and personal conflicts, and another issue is the history of the owner’s son, who had a drug case but has been released from prison for more than five years. The police are currently investigating CCTV footage in the area to find additional evidence and questioning those involved.
