Bangkok: Siripong Angkasakulkiat, deputy leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has voiced criticism towards the Pheu Thai Party for launching a campaign aimed at attracting voters through various promotions. He accused Pheu Thai of offering promotions that were already low-cost, urging the People’s Party to support them. Siripong believes that these promotions will not cause confusion due to the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in place. He emphasized that any party actions should be undertaken before a party resolution is made. He also apologized to the Orange Party for a miscommunication that prevented him from voting in time to support the party, and cautioned against criticizing a bill linked to Pheu Thai.
According to Thai News Agency, Siripong questioned the motive behind Pheu Thai’s changing terms and conditions, suggesting there might be a hidden agenda. He stated that the Bhumjaithai Party has consistently adhered to the demands of the Prachachon Party, which initially were three but later increased to five, all of which were accepted. He speculated that Pheu Thai’s multifaceted proposals could enable the Prachachon Party to make informed decisions, potentially providing a political advantage if they choose not to join. This could lead to future criticism of the Prachachon Party.
Siripong dismissed concerns about the People’s Party being distracted, stating that their resolution had already been confirmed. He remarked that any perceived advantage for the Bhumjaithai Party due to Pheu Thai’s hesitancy was not the main issue. He stressed that movements within the party should occur before resolutions are reached to maintain credibility.
Addressing critiques from former leaders of the Move Forward Party, Siripong emphasized that while diverse opinions are natural, resolutions require decisive action. He assured that the Bhumjaithai Party also values diversity of opinion but stands firm on party resolutions.
Siripong acknowledged a recent miscommunication incident, clarifying that a delay occurred due to a misunderstanding about a voting session. He apologized for the oversight and highlighted the importance of coordination, as emphasized by party leader Anutin Charnvirakul, to support Prachachon Party legislation.
Regarding remarks made by Pheu Thai Party MPs about the MOA, Siripong confirmed that it had not been discussed but assured that it would be addressed in the future. He urged against any sarcastic comments, noting that the People’s Party had discussed the law with Pheu Thai, not with Bhumjaithai.
