Bangkok: Sukhum Nuansakul, former president of Ramkhamhaeng University, has expressed optimism about the future of Thai society after Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s recent formation of an economic cabinet team. He emphasized the importance of this development in potentially reviving the “Half-Half” policy, an initiative aimed at boosting the economy.
According to Thai News Agency, Sukhum commented on the current political environment and national governance strategies, noting that the establishment of a clear timeframe for work and the acceleration of economic policies are beginning to inspire hope. These policies are eagerly awaited by the public and are seen as crucial for demonstrating the government’s capabilities ahead of the next election.
Sukhum stressed the urgency for the government to deliver tangible outcomes, particularly through the revival of the “Half-Half” program, which has previously had a positive impact on society. He remarked that the public’s concern lies not in the origin of the idea but in who can successfully implement it to benefit the people. He believes that the Bhumjaithai Party could regain its popularity by earnestly pursuing this policy.
Furthermore, Sukhum highlighted the appeal of the new economic cabinet, attributing its attractiveness to the professionalism and expertise of its members. This, he said, indicates that Prime Minister Anutin and the Bhumjaithai Party are attuned to the economic challenges faced by the public and are assembling a team capable of addressing these issues effectively.
Sukhum noted that the Prime Minister’s focus on economic issues and cost of living concerns aligns with public sentiment. He concluded that the decision to bring in an expert outsider for this role demonstrates an understanding of public needs and fosters greater hope within society.
