Bangkok: Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, has issued directives to the Civil Service Commission and the Royal Thai Army to oversee and manage the emerging unrest at the Thai-Cambodian border. The decision comes amidst growing concerns about the situation's potential impact on national security.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suriya has instructed the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co., Ltd. (AEROTHAI) to maintain vigilant surveillance of the border, ensuring preparedness for any unexpected developments. This includes coordinating with security agencies to safeguard the public and national interests.

In response to the situation, the Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) has accelerated safety protocols, prioritizing assistance to military aircraft. The urgent measures include readying air traffic control services to prioritize security-related flight operations, deploying personnel as per situational demands, and supporting special missions in all scenarios.

Despite these developments, commercial flights remain unaffected, operating as usual under the watchful eye of CAAT and AOT, who are continuously assessing the situation. The CAAT is actively engaging with security agencies to evaluate and implement an aviation management plan that addresses the current unrest, focusing on ensuring maximum safety for all air operations.
