Bangkok: ‘Teng’ has expressed his support for the Cabinet’s decision to approve the purchase of additional Gripen aircraft, emphasizing his consistent stance on the necessity of a robust weapons budget. He clarified that the ‘People’s Party’ has never blocked necessary military spending, advocating for case-by-case evaluation of defense needs.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Natthaphong Ruangpanyawut, a prominent figure in the Prachachon Party, addressed the government’s legal action against Cambodia following border clashes. Acting Prime Minister Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai has initiated both civil and criminal proceedings against Cambodia’s alleged military aggression. Natthaphong emphasized the importance of presenting evidence to international bodies, underscoring the readiness of Thai agencies to pursue justice.

As an opposition party, the Prachachon Party remains committed to providing empirical evidence, working closely with agencies like the Human Security Department. Natthaphong assured that the party is prepared to support legal actions with necessary documentation.

Natthaphong also discussed Mr. Rangsiman Rome’s remarks on the potential connections between call center gangs and Cambodian leadership, expressing the People’s Party’s dedication to combating such issues. He reiterated the party’s readiness to support government efforts with existing evidence.

Addressing military budget concerns, Natthaphong clarified that while the People’s Party supports necessary defense procurements, each case must be thoroughly evaluated. He mentioned past support for military purchases, emphasizing that decisions should not be influenced by emerging security trends but by rational necessity.

Regarding potential military leadership changes affecting budget approvals, Natthaphong denied any correlation, stressing the importance of justified expenditure. He reiterated support for military modernization and welfare improvements, while opposing military involvement in politics.

On internal matters, Natthaphong addressed comments by Mr. Sahasawat Khumkhong, noting that disciplinary action had been taken and emphasizing the importance of responsible communication by party members. He urged the public to consider official party statements when evaluating the party’s stance.

Natthaphong concluded by affirming Mr. Sahasawat’s personal views as separate from official party policy, highlighting the responsibility of MPs to align their public communications with party principles and public expectations.
