Bangkok: “Teng” has called for mindfulness in consuming news, expressing concerns that it may worsen the current situation. He remains undeterred by any backlash following his advice to hospitals to adhere to humanitarian principles. He emphasized the importance of being cautious with news consumption to prevent further escalation of issues.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Natthaphong Ruangpanyawut, a party-list MP and leader of the People’s Party, addressed the circulation of fake news alleging that he and his party had condemned hospitals for refusing treatment to Cambodians. Mr. Natthaphong clarified that the People’s Party holds the same patriotic sentiments as any other Thai citizen. He urged the public to remember that all national operations should comply with international standards, as Thailand is part of the global community.
Mr. Natthaphong highlighted that maintaining truthfulness and adhering to international rules is crucial to overcoming misinformation, particularly in light of Cambodia releasing information that does not align with the facts. He stressed the importance of defending the country vigorously without succumbing to superior power or military pressure, as doing so could lead to a loss of international recognition.
He also pointed out that misinformation is not confined to his jurisdiction but is prevalent in various sectors. Mr. Natthaphong encouraged the public to carefully monitor news and information, warning that sharing false information based on emotions can exacerbate the situation.
Addressing concerns about the potential impact of recent attacks on the party’s popularity, Mr. Natthaphong reassured that the long-term trust in the People’s Party is built on diligent work and public engagement. Despite the temporary setbacks due to misinformation, he emphasized the party’s commitment to improving its work and building a better understanding with the public.
