Bangkok: The situation along the Thai-Cambodian border remains normal across seven provinces, as confirmed by government spokesman Mr. Jirayu Huangsap. Mr. Huangsap, who serves as a spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office and a member of the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation Administration (TCASA), stated that the Thai military continues to maintain its presence at 11 strongholds along the border. Barbed wire fences have been erected as a precautionary measure to protect Thailand’s sovereignty and prevent any unauthorized entry.
According to Thai News Agency, the government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is organizing a field visit for diplomats from foreign embassies in Thailand, representatives from international organizations, and over 20 Thai and international news agencies and local media. The visit will take place in Ubon Ratchathani and Sisaket provinces, where participants will observe ongoing landmine clearance efforts and assess the impact on civilian areas resulting from previous border incidents.
The diplomatic corps and media representatives will have the opportunity to independently verify the situation on the ground and observe the operations carried out by the Humanitarian Mine Action Unit in areas affected by anti-personnel mines. The initiative aims to provide transparency and allow for an independent assessment of the border situation.
