Thai Public Opposes People’s Party Alliance with Bhumjaithai Party

Bangkok: Polls indicate that Thai citizens are skeptical about a potential alliance between the People's Party and the Bhumjaithai Party, with many suspecting a hidden agreement.

According to Thai News Agency, a survey conducted by the Pacific Institute of Management on August 30, 2025, reveals that 62.9% of respondents oppose the People's Party joining forces with Bhumjaithai, fearing it would be more disadvantageous than beneficial.

The survey, which included 1,500 participants from various regions, focused on the "People's Party's direction for government formation." Results showed that 30.5% of respondents do not want to see the People's Party collaborate with Bhumjaithai, with an additional 12.9% strongly opposed. Conversely, 13.5% strongly support the alliance, and 12.8% are in favor, while 20.2% remain undecided.

Further inquiries into the potential motivations behind the People's Party's support for Bhumjaithai revealed that 42.5% of respondents suspect a political agreement to help exonerate 44 MPs. Meanwhile, 17.4% believe in consistent ideology and policies, 15.5% support Anutin Charnvirakul's (Bhumjaithai's leader) potential prime ministership, and 10.4% see it as a means to advance the country's policies.

Regarding the overall impact on the Thai political system, 62.9% of those surveyed predicted negative consequences from the alliance, 7.7% anticipated positive outcomes, and 29.4% were uncertain.
