Bodhgaya: Thai Buddhist Temple Bodhgaya hosted a significant Buddhist chanting ceremony to honor King Naresuan the Great Day. The event, held at the revered Wat Thai Buddhagaya in Bodhgaya, marked Navamindra Maharaj Day on October 13, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony was led by Phra Phromwachiraphotivong, head of the Indian-Nepal Dharma Mission and abbot of Wat Thai Buddhagaya. The event witnessed monks, nuns, and Thai Buddhists engaging in chanting Buddhist prayers and practicing meditation. This was done to offer royal merit to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on Navamindra Day, which is observed on the anniversary of his passing.
At 9:09 a.m., Phra Brahma Wachiraphotivong also led a flower-offering ceremony under the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, the site of the Lord Buddha’s enlightenment. The ceremony included offerings of rice and the Buddha’s Metta image, paying tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. The event commemorated the late king’s great kindness and his enduring contributions to the Thai people as the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history.
