The event concluded with the Thai team, comprising Sasikarn Thongjan, Piyachatritai Chariwan, and Orrawan Rasameeprapa, initially defeating Uzbekistan and Taiwan in the early rounds. However, they encountered a setback against China in the semi-finals, resulting in a 2-0 loss and earning a bronze medal. The Thai men's taekwondo team also participated but was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Taiwan, ending their medal hopes.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai taekwondo team concluded the games with a commendable tally of 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Chatchai Che, the head taekwondo coach, expressed satisfaction with the athletes' performance, highlighting the team's overall achievements despite the fierce competition.
In other events, the Thai women's table tennis doubles team, Wirakan Tayapitak and Jinnipa Sawetbut, faced a formidable challenge against the Chinese pair Yang Yiyun and Zhao Chang in the quarterfinals. The Thai pair struggled to match their opponents, losing 0-4 in games and missing out on a medal.
In judo, Thailand's Kathatham Manomai competed in the 66 kg men's category, facing Abrek Naguchev, the top-ranked player from the individual neutral athlete team. Despite a valiant effort, Kathatham was defeated by Ippon at 1 minute and 23 seconds, leading to his elimination from the tournament.
Meanwhile, in women's badminton singles, Thammawan Nithi-itthikrai, ranked 66th in the world, displayed a strong performance by defeating Uganda's Kru Tum Nalumanzi in the first round. Thammawan won the match convincingly with scores of 15-5 and 15-2, advancing to the second round.
