Thailand Promotes Tourism with ‘Alien: Earth’ Filming Locations

Bangkok: The government is inviting tourists to travel to “follow the world-famous series Alien: Earth” after filming in seven Thai provinces. The project aims to stimulate tourism and generate over 2.8 billion baht in revenue, propelling Thailand to become a world-class filming hub.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikan Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that the government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, is inviting series fans and tourists to “follow in the footsteps” of the blockbuster series “Alien: Earth,” which has chosen Thailand as the primary location in seven provinces: Bangkok, Phang Nga, Krabi, Nakhon Pathom, Surat Thani, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Samut Prakan. The series premiered globally on Disney+ on August 13th.

This filming not only reflects the potential of Thailand’s internationally standardized locations and studios, but also generated enormous economic benefits, with an investment of over 2.8 billion baht, a record high for a foreign film shoot in Thailand, and created a total of 24,787 jobs. These include 13,942 film crews, such as supporting actors, cinematographers, sound and lighting crews, art crews, and other behind-the-scenes staff, and 10,845 crews in related businesses, such as car rentals, hotels, restaurants, and other supporting services.

The abundance of resources, the variety of filming locations, the professional team, and the international-standard studios were all factors that led Alien: Earth to choose Thailand as the primary location, emphasizing the potential of the Thai film industry in every aspect, including locations, skilled teams, and comprehensive support services. This pushes Thailand towards becoming a globally recognized “HUB” for international filming.

“The government is committed to continuously raising the standards of tourism and the film industry to generate income for the country, increase employment opportunities, and strengthen Thailand’s image on the world stage in a sustainable and stable manner,” said Ms. Sasikarn.
