Bangkok: Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, an MP for Phayao and an advisor to the Kla Tham Party, has emphasized the importance of political self-reflection and adaptation in response to recent speculations about a potential cabinet reshuffle. He stated that politicians should not be overly attached to their public images and should continuously assess their actions to ensure survival in the political arena.
According to Thai News Agency, Thammanat refrained from commenting on whether it was time for a cabinet reshuffle, maintaining that such decisions are for the government to consider. He highlighted that politics should be resolved through political means, warning that unresolved political issues could lead to chaos.
Thammanat addressed remarks made by former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who criticized the Interior Ministry’s performance. He suggested that all ministries need to tighten their operations but refrained from singling out any specific ministry. Thammanat stressed that political matters should not be left loose and should always be tightened to maintain order.
When questioned about the unity of the coalition government, Thammanat expressed confidence that the parties can work together until the end of their term. He confirmed ongoing communication with coalition parties and denied any recent discussions with the Prime Minister regarding government matters.
Regarding the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thammanat reiterated that any appointments or changes would be determined by the Kla Tham Party’s executive committee. He dismissed the notion of individual influence over party decisions and emphasized the importance of collective input.
Thammanat emphasized the principle of not clinging to political positions or images, urging politicians to remain self-aware and considerate of their contributions to the public. He clarified that his comments were not directed at any individual but were intended as general advice for political figures.
