Thirat Attends Royal Cremation Ceremony of Sgt. Maj. Anothai

Ubon ratchathani: “Thirat” attended the royal cremation ceremony of “Sgt. Maj. Anothai.” Thirat represented the Cabinet in the royal cremation ceremony of Sergeant Major Anothai Pongkae, who died while defending sovereignty on the Thai-Cambodian border. He also donated 1,000,000 baht to the Prime Minister’s Office’s Disaster Relief Fund.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thirat Rattanawanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, represented the Cabinet in attending the royal cremation ceremony of Sergeant Major Anothai Pongkaew, 32, of the Special Operations Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Regiment (Special Forces Task Force 90), Special Warfare Command, at Wat Chai Tharawas, Kabin Subdistrict, Kut Khao Pun District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. She passed away on July 28, 2015, at approximately 11:30 a.m. while performing her duty with courage and sacrifice during the clashes on the Thai-Cambodian border near Prasat Ta Kwai, Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province. She also presented 1,000,000 baht to the Office of the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

His Majesty the King graciously bestowed royal bathing water and a royal wreath upon the body of Sergeant Major Anothai Pongkaew under his royal patronage. The cremation ceremony was presided over by General Songwit Noonpakdee, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, with His Royal Highness Prince Chalermsuk Yugala also present. Phra Vajirasumethi, Abbot of Wat Sanom Mak Ya, was the presiding monk. Senior officials, including Lieutenant Colonel Adisak Noisuwan, Governor of Ubon Ratchathani Province, judicial officials, military and police officers, members of the United States Military Advisory Group in Thailand, Second Lieutenant Soramongkol Mongkolkasiri, Deputy Governor, heads of government agencies, Mr. Worasit Kalptinant, and Ms. Sudarat Phithakpornpallop, were also present. Members of the House of Representatives of Ubon Ratchathani Province, village headmen, war veterans, Village Defense Volunteers (VDP), and members of the public, along with numerous members of the public, attended the cere
mony and paid tribute to the heroic deeds of the brave heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect Thailand with honor.
