Thirat Visits Flood Victims in Nan Province to Provide Aid and Support

Bangkok: “Thirat” takes a boat to visit flood victims in the Phumin-Tha Li community. Ms. Teerarat Samretwanit, Deputy Minister of Interior, is monitoring the flood situation in Nan for the second day. She visited the people of the Phumin-Tha Li community, distributed rice, water, and relief bags, and prepared food at the shelter for distribution to those affected.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thirat was accompanied by Mr. Chainarong Wongyai, Governor of Nan Province, Mr. Sahat Wongskulwiwat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Mr. Songyos Ramsut, Member of the House of Representatives for Nan Province, and Mr. Nopparat Thawong, President of Nan Provincial Administrative Organization. At 09.30, Ms. Thirat and her team assessed the situation in Nan Municipality. They boarded a boat from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in front of Wat Phumin to offer moral support and deliver essential supplies to the Phumin-Tha Li village along Phakong Road. The water level, approximately 1.5 meters deep, had decreased from the previous day. This village was the most affected due to its low-lying position within Nan Municipality. The Department, along with Nan Municipality, employed small boats to supply food and water to over 400 households in need.

Later, at 11.00 am, efforts were made to clean the roads at the Suan Tan Temple intersection with the help of royal volunteer groups and various agencies. Although the area is no longer flooded, mud remains a significant issue. By 11.40 am, Ms. Thirat visited the temporary flood relief center in Nan Municipality, providing encouragement to the approximately 80 people residing there. She also participated in kitchen activities, cooking an omelet and packing a stir-fried soy sauce dish to distribute to the municipality’s flood victims.

Ms. Thirat expressed that the water situation in Nan Municipality is improving, with the Nan River’s water level dropping below the bank. The province is expediting the water pumping process to restore normalcy within 1-2 days. She emphasized the importance of continuing to deliver food and water to the Phumin-Tha Li villages, where the water level still stands at about 1.5 meters. Cleanup efforts are underway in many villages.
