Bangkok: Typhoon Kajiki is projected to intensify, bringing heavy rainfall to various regions in Thailand from August 24-27, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department released Announcement No. 7, highlighting that Tropical Storm Kajiki, located over the upper South China Sea, is likely to strengthen. The storm, with maximum sustained winds of approximately 112 kilometers per hour, is moving westward at about 20 kilometers per hour. It is anticipated to make landfall in Vietnam and northern Laos between August 25 and 26, 2025, coinciding with the strengthening southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The storm’s influence will lead to increased rainfall, with heavy to very heavy rain and strong winds expected across the upper Northeast, North, Central, East, and the western coast of the South, including Bangkok and its vicinity. Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant against potential dangers such as heavy rainfall, flash floods, and forest runoff, particularly in areas near hillsides, waterways, and lowlands.
On August 24, 2025, the affected provinces include Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Lopburi, Suphanburi, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chanthaburi, Trat, Phetchaburi, Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket.
On August 25, 2025, heavy rainfall is expected in Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom, Bangkok and its vicinity, Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, Trat, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, and Krabi.
From August 26-27, 2025, the weather is set to affect Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Bangkok and its vicinity, Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket.
Additionally, the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand will experience strong waves, reaching 2-3 meters in height, and exceeding 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Mariners are urged to exercise caution, and small boats are advised to remain ashore.
