Hanoi: “Kajiki” is set to enter Vietnam in two days. Beware of heavy rain in the Northeast tomorrow.
According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department expects Typhoon Kajiki to make landfall near Vinh City, northern Vietnam, on August 26-27 before weakening into a tropical storm. The storm’s edge will cause heavy to very heavy rain in the eastern and upper northeastern regions of Thailand tomorrow.
Mr. Somkuan Tonjan, Director of the Meteorological Department’s Weather Forecasting Division, revealed that Tropical Storm Kajiki, which has intensified from a tropical storm into a typhoon, is currently centered in the South China Sea. The storm had maximum sustained winds near the center of approximately 140 kilometers per hour, moving westward slightly to the north at a speed of approximately 20 kilometers per hour. It is expected to make landfall near Vinh City, northern Vietnam, between 26 and 27 August 2025, and then begin to weaken into a tropical storm.
The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts that the front of Tropical Storm Kajiki will increase cloud cover along the coasts of Vietnam and Laos, beginning to affect the eastern part of northeastern Thailand today. Beware of heavy to very heavy rain tomorrow in some areas of the eastern and upper northeastern regions, affecting the northern, central, eastern, and southern regions. This could lead to flash floods, mudslides, and flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents in at-risk areas are urged to closely monitor heavy rainfall, particularly in mountainous areas and areas near waterways. They are also advised to closely monitor announcements from the Meteorological Department at www.tmd.go.th or by calling the 24-hour hotline 1182.
