Denpasar, Bali The Indonesian Boxing Team bagged two gold medals in the Belt and Road China-ASEAN Boxing Championship held in the city of Nanning, Guangxi, China.
"Those who won gold medals were Aldriani Beatrichx Suguro (female boxer) and Kornelis Kwangu, while Gregory Gheda Dende won a silver medal after losing to the host boxer from China," Made Muliawan Arya, manager of the Indonesian Boxing Team, who is also head of the Bali Amateur Boxer Association, remarked when contacted through instant messaging from Denpasar, Bali, Monday.
Arya stated that in the earlier match, Aldriani Beatrichx Suguro clashed against Chinese boxer Ningyan, while Kornelis Kwangu Langli went head-to-head against Singaporean boxer Muhamad Hafisz Bin Ahma, and Gregorius Gheda Dende competed against Ocana Sugar Rey Estroga from the Philippines.
"I would like to laud the support given to the Indonesian Boxing Team during our time in China. We have achieved best results," he stated.
It was earlier reported that all Indonesian boxers participating in the Belt and Road China-ASEAN Boxing Championship in Nanning, Guangxi, China, had made it through to the finals.
Female boxer Suguro pocketed more points against the boxer from China, while Langli won against Ahma from Singapore, and Dende emerged winner in the fight against Estroga from the Philippines.
"Our target was to have them to compete to the best of their abilities, and we expected all to go home with gold medals," Arya noted.
He further stated that all activities of the Indonesian team during their time in China went smoothly, and likewise, the relationship between boxers, coaches, and managers was in harmony.
Arya, popularly known as De Gadjah, led the Indonesian boxing team to fight in the Belt and Road China-ASEAN Boxing Championship on Nov 24-25.
The Indonesian boxing team headed to China at the invitation of Internationale de Boxe Amateur, a boxing body that houses the worlds amateur boxing.
In this team, De Gadjah managed the Indonesian team comprising three boxers: Dende, who competed in the 64-kg class, Langli for the 56-kg class, and Suguro for the female 51-kg class, accompanied by coach Denisius Agustinus Hitarihun.
