Ani Yudhoyono receives Biodiversity Award 2019

The two books are considered by KOBI's honorary council board of committee as one of her achievements.

Bogor (ANTARA) - Ani Yudhoyono, the late first lady of 2004-2014 President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has received the Biodiversity Award 2019 from the Indonesia Consortium of Biology (KOBI) on Tuesday. Former President Yudhoyono accepted the award on behalf of his late wife at the Bogor Botanical Garden in West Java, Tuesday.

Ani was passionate about the environment and wrote two books on biodiversity titled 3.500 Plant Species of the Botanic Gardens of Indonesia and Koleksi Tanaman Herbalia Istana Cipanas (Herbal Plants Collection of Cipanas Palace), the chief of KOBI, Prof Dr. Budi Setiadi Daryono stated.

The two books are considered by KOBI's honorary council board of committee as one of her achievements, Daryono added.

Furthermore, the award which is presented on the National Day of Loving Flora and Fauna is expected to encourage people, especially millennials, to show more concern for biodiversity.

Yudhoyono expressed his gratitude for the award presented to his late wife who passed away in early June of this year.

I suppose she is now smiling happily, peacefully, and also thankful for this, Yudhoyono said.

What she had been done for 10 years of being the first lady is now counted as part of history. She began the action with love and passion of the environment, plantations, flora, fauna, and life itself, he noted.
