Bang Rak Entertainment Venues Raided in Drug Crackdown

Bangkok: Two entertainment venues in the Bang Rak area were searched for drug use and operating past legal closing times in a recent crackdown operation named “NO Drugs NO Dealers.”

According to Thai News Agency, the operation was conducted by police from Bang Rak Police Station, in collaboration with Metropolitan Police Bureau 6 and the Bangkok Office of the Narcotics Control Board. The authorities targeted two venues in Bang Rak, a popular spot for Myanmar workers, following reports of the venues allowing foreign workers and partygoers to gather and consume drugs after hours.

During the raid, tourists were found engaging in various activities such as drinking, eating, and dancing. Officials instructed attendees to cease all activities immediately. The operation led to the discovery of 27 tourists, with four overstaying their licenses and 13 failing to report their workplace. Authorities seized 24 e-cigarettes, 15 marijuana sticks, and eight Burmese tobacco leaves. The owner of the establishment faces charges for operating without a license and beyond permitted hours, while foreign workers face charges related to overstaying their licenses and not notifying the registrar of their employer and workplace.
