Buriram: “Chaichanok” remains unperturbed by the Ministry of Interior’s investigation into the Khao Kradong land issue, asserting confidence in the fact that the land belongs to the people, not the State Railway of Thailand. He believes the investigation will not impact his family and pledges to continue advocating for Buriram residents, expressing a commitment to await clarity on the matter.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob, MP for Buriram and Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed the investigation ordered by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai. He emphasized that Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, had already affirmed their willingness to cooperate with the investigation as per legal processes. Mr. Chaichanok expressed confidence that the truth would emerge, asserting the land’s rightful ownership by the people and not the State Railway of Thailand, and vowed to protect those unjustly accused.
Mr. Chaichanok further remarked that even if he were found liable and required to pay a fine of 500,000 baht annually, it would have minimal impact on his family, considering their ownership of only a small portion of the 5,000 rai of land. He questioned whether such a situation would affect his family business and suggested that relocating, if necessary, would have little effect.
He raised a broader concern regarding the political implications and accusations affecting his party, questioning the situation’s fairness. He pondered the plight of ordinary citizens in Buriram who own more than 4,000 rai of land, emphasizing their limited ability to contest such issues. Mr. Chaichanok reiterated his resolve to stand firm for the people, emphasizing that legal compensation was manageable, but the principled stance was crucial. He concluded with a call for patience, expressing confidence that the truth would eventually become evident.
