Warning Issued for Landslides and Flash Floods in 35 Provinces Due to Heavy Rain

Bangkok: The Department of Mineral Resources has issued a warning to 35 provinces and 248 districts about potential landslides and flash floods due to heavy rainfall expected between August 24 and August 28, 2025. This warning comes as a result of the influence of Typhoon Kajiki combined with a strong southwest monsoon that has led to continuous heavy to very heavy rainfall in many regions.

According to Thai News Agency, the areas at high risk include several regions across the country. In the northern region, the provinces of Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Lampang, Lamphun, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, and Phitsanulok are on alert. The northeastern region’s high-risk areas are Loei, Chaiyaphum, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, and Sisaket. The central region includes Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Nayok, and Uthai Thani, while the eastern region lists Prachinburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Sa Kaeo as high-risk provinces. In the southern region, Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun have been identified as vulnerable.

The Department of Mineral Resources has advised the public and volunteer networks to monitor rainfall levels closely, especially if accumulated rainfall exceeds 100 mm in 24 hours, which significantly increases the risk of landslides. Residents are urged to watch for unusual signs such as turbid water or debris and to avoid crossing waterways. Additionally, they are advised to schedule 24-hour watchmen and have emergency equipment ready.

In the event of a warning, immediate evacuation to a safe area is crucial to ensure safety.
